Note to Self: Owning Your Actions

In Professional Growth by rafranzdavis2 Comments

Dear Rafranz,

Growth is fun. I needed to start with that. I am always about sharing my total self…my truth. Tonight is no different.

I need to start by declaring that I AM HUMAN. I am not perfect and no one is. When things don’t go my way, as planned, sometimes I throw a fit and not a quiet one either. I get really passionate about what I believe in and in my mind, I am right…end of story.

But, the reality of life is that you can’t always be right. You can’t always get your way and sometimes you have to give in because it is the right thing to do. When you give in, your attitude must remain positive and professional. Why is that?

Because…YOU ARE A LEADER!

A condition of leadership is that the good of the whole is always your priority. You won’t like it. You will down right hate it. There are moments when you will want to stuff ice chips down your ears at your dislike of a situation but because you are who you are…you will deal.

THAT IS WHAT LEADERS DO.

They also admit when they are wrong and own up to the idea that being right isn’t always right. Sometimes it’s about being open minded and flexible…ready to make a change because your weakness, which also happens to be a strength, is not your greatest strength at all.

Your greatest strength is in your ability to see the worst of yourself and fix it because ultimately THAT is the best of who you are.

YOU ARE A LEARNER AND THAT IS WHAT LEARNERS DO.

That, my friend, is what makes you…YOU.

Your mistakes are your mistakes. Your actions are your actions. They are yours to own and yours to correct. The power in learning is sharing so that others may learn with you as well.

The lesson here is this…

Passion is contagious but so is attitude. Be careful what you share.

Sincerely

Rafranz
