Before the digital age took over, teachers were limited to learning from other teachers in their building or through conferences if they were lucky.
Fast-forward to NOW! I can sit in the comfort of my classroom, bedroom, kitchen, grocery story, car (not while driving)…etc…and learn not only great tips and tricks but also educational news. I can engage in educational dialogue with like minded individuals who live and breathe the same edu-reform air that I breathe and it feels great.
I’m actually about to let you in on a little secret. I am asked ALL the time where I learn everything that I learn from. Truthfully, I am pretty much a go-getter type of person. I search, find and use on my own. However, with twitter, I’ve found that I don’t have to actually search as much. Things just come to me. That’s because I’ve chosen to “follow” and engage with educators worldwide and as the old adage goes…”Sharing is Caring”. My PLN consist of administrators, trainers, writers, bloggers, teachers and even ed tech businesses.
Still confused about what twitter is about, here is a video created by the guys at common craft that describes twitter in plain English.
To get you started, here are a few of my favorites to follow.
Remember, that the best way to get great educational content to go viral is to hit the retweet button and share.
